XRP News Today: Why Is XRP Falling Despite Bitwise's $561M ETF Lead?

Every crown comes with a question. In the race to hold this coin for Wall Street, Bitwise now sits on top with $561 million, which is more than a third of everything U.S. spot funds hold.

At the same time, another post says BlackRock could be next, and the market is asking if that is real or just hype.

XRP News Today  walks through the price, the scoreboard, how the money has moved, and the BlackRock rumor, in plain words, so you can tell what is confirmed and what is noise.

The Price Right Now: A 2.16% Slide as the Evening Sell-Off Fades

According to live market data, the coin was trading near $1.30, down 2.16% over 24 hours, after falling from about $1.35 earlier on.

The 24-hour chart tells a simple story. The coin opened near $1.33 and spent most of the day between $1.33 and $1.35.

Then, in the evening on the chart’s clock, it began to fall. It found a low near $1.29 around midnight, bounced back to about $1.31, and now sits near $1.30.

Trading volume dropped almost 30%, and only about 2% of the coin’s total value changed hands in a day. That is a fairly calm level, so the sell-off looks like it is cooling down.

There is also a bigger picture. According to 24/7 Wall St., the coin’s all-time high was $3.65 in July 2025. At $1.30, it is about 64% below that peak, which is our own simple math.

Readers following XRP news today should note that growing fund assets have not lifted the chart.

The Scoreboard: Who Holds What

First, a quick explanation. An ETF is a fund you buy on the stock market through a regular brokerage account.

A spot XRP ETF holds real coins on your behalf, so you get exposure to the price without handling the coins yourself.

According to Maketo’s ETF tracker, the five U.S. funds it follows hold $1.52 billion together, which is about 1.14 billion coins, as of October 15, 2026. Here is who holds what:

Bitwise’s fund sits at $561 million, outpacing every other issuer by more than $150 million, and accounts for more than a third of all holdings. The Maketo data backs this up:

  • Bitwise leads second-place Franklin Templeton by $159 million.

  • Its 37% share is above one-third.

  • The top three issuers hold about 85% of all the money.

  • The five funds hold about 1.8% of the coins in circulation, by our math using the 63.12 billion circulating figure.

Maketo also shows that these funds make up only 1.2% of all the money in the U.S. crypto ETFs it follows. In other words, out of every $100 in those products, about $1.20 sits here. Bitcoin and Ethereum funds are far bigger.

How the Pie Has Grown: Not a Straight Line

The total has moved a lot since the first fund launched in November 2025. Maketo values each fund’s coins at the day’s closing price, so the dollar number rises and falls with the price, even on days when no money moves. Here are its month-end readings:

The biggest jump came late. From the end of June to the end of September, the total grew about 78%. It peaked at $1.77 billion on September 25, and it is now about 14% below that high.

Over the last month it is still up $134 million (9.6%), and about $91 million of that was new money arriving, with the rest coming from price changes.

The most recent flow data tells a quieter story. SoSoValue data shows that on October 16 the funds held $1.47 billion and saw a net outflow of $2.47 million, which is about 0.17% of the total.

The biggest daily inflows on its chart, roughly $15 million and $22 million, came in late September.

The two trackers differ slightly because they use different dates and methods, and other reports count seven funds instead of five. Still, they point the same way. The money is large, but growth has stalled.

How Bitwise Built Its Lead

Bitwise announced the launch of its fund on the NYSE in November 2025, under the ticker XRP, with a yearly fee of 0.34%.

The company said it had already launched an earlier XRP product in Europe in 2022.

Bitwise also said its fund passed $500 million in assets nine months after launch.

According to its latest SEC filing, dated September 18, 2026, the fund:

  • Holds real coins and keeps them with a custodian, a company that stores them securely.

  • Sets its value using a reference rate built from trades on major trading platforms.

  • Charges a yearly fee of 0.34% of its holdings.

At $561 million, that fee works out to about $1.9 million a year. This is our own math and ignores any fee waivers. It is real money, but small for a giant asset manager.

The BlackRock Question and What to Watch Next

A post from XRP Alerts says a BlackRock fund is under consideration. Here is what the record shows.

A post from XRP Alerts

The 24/7 Wall St. report from September 30 says BlackRock has never filed for one.

  • BlackRock’s head of digital assets has said client demand is the top factor in launching any crypto fund.

  • Canary Capital’s CEO guessed in January that BlackRock might file by late 2026 or early 2027, but BlackRock has confirmed no timeline.

  • BlackRock accepts Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin as collateral for a tokenized fund, but that is a different asset from the coin on the chart.

  • We searched for a confirmed filing and found none.

So the “under consideration” claim is a rumor for now. The same 24/7 Wall St. coverage says Canary’s CEO suggested that fund assets need to reach roughly $3 billion before BlackRock’s case gets strong.

At $1.52 billion, they are about halfway. Anyone following XRP news today should watch for these signs:

  • A confirmed BlackRock filing on the SEC’s website.

  • Daily flows, to see if small outflows grow or turn back into inflows.

  • Whether total fund assets climb back toward the $1.77 billion peak.

  • Whether the coin holds above this week’s low near $1.29.

Conclusion

Bitwise’s crown is real, and the numbers back it up, but the market is not rewarding it yet.

BlackRock’s seat is still empty, and the rumor has no filing behind it.

For XRP news today, the smartest approach is to follow the confirmed facts and ignore the hype.
