XRP News Today: Two Major Events Could Impact $XRP Price Prediction

XRP news today centers on two big events landing on the same day. XRP price sits near $1.3500, down a small 0.27% over the past 24 hours.

Traders are watching the August CPI report and a fresh XRP Ledger amendment, both set to land within hours of each other. This XRP price prediction breaks down what each one means and why the timing matters.

XRP Price Today: What's Happening Right Now?

XRP is trading close to $1.3500 right now, a slight dip from the day before.

The bigger story isn't the small move. It's what comes next.

Two separate events are set to hit the market on Friday. One is macro. One is XRPL-specific. They are not related, but both could shake up sentiment.

XRP News Today: How Does CPI Affect XRP Price?

The Consumer Price Index measures how fast prices are rising for everyday goods. It's the main tool the Federal Reserve uses to judge inflation.

The August CPI report drops at 8:30 a.m. ET. Economists expect headline inflation near 3.4% year-over-year, with core inflation around 2.4%.

Here's why crypto traders care:

  • Lower than expected CPI: Eases pressure on the Fed, raises hopes for rate cuts, often lifts risk assets like XRP.

  • Higher than expected CPI: Keeps pressure on the Fed to hold or raise rates, which can strengthen the dollar and pull money out of crypto.

This comes right before the Fed's September 16 policy meeting, so today's numbers carry extra weight.

XRP Price Forecast: Fed Rate Hike Odds Are Climbing

Markets are now pricing in a 69.6% chance of a rate move at the September 16 meeting, based on current data.

69.6%

61.2%

59.4%

48.4%

That's a sharp climb in just a month. Rising rate hike odds tend to weigh on risk-on assets like XRP.

Weak jobs data adds pressure too. August payrolls grew by just 22,000, far below the roughly 75,000 expected, and unemployment ticked up to 4.3%.

XRP News Today: XRPL 3.3.0 Upgrade Explained

Separately, an XRP Ledger amendment tied to the XRPL 3.3.0 upgrade is set to activate around 11:15 a.m. ET.

This is a maintenance-style update. It touches single-asset vaults, lending, automated market makers, permissioned exchanges, checks, and pseudo accounts.

It passed the required validator vote after holding more than 80% support for two straight weeks, which is the standard XRPL threshold.

Two headline features are not part of this activation:

  • Confidential Transfers – sits under 23% validator support, well short of the bar.

  • Dynamic MPT – also under 23%, not close to activation yet.

The Batch Amendment (XLS-56) is further along, with support from 23 of 35 validators, a bit over 65%. It needs 28 of 35 to reach 80%.

XRP Ledger Eyes Major v3.4.0 Upgrade: Latest XRP News

Beyond today's amendment, the XRP Ledger is working toward its next major release, XRPL 3.4.0, which will include Lending Protocol v1.1.

The Lending Protocol amendment itself is still in voting, with 31.43% of validator support so far. It would let uncollateralized, fixed-term lending run on-chain through pooled funds from a Single Asset Vault, under the XLS-66 spec.

XRPL dUNL validator Vet flagged the upgrade, noting that the new version will strengthen "important aspects" of the original Lending Protocol v1.0. A separate contract, LendingProtocolV1_1, remains "In Development" and adds fixes such as a MemoData field for the VaultDelete transaction.XRP Ledger Eyes Major v3.4.0 Upgrade

Vet also described the Lending Protocol and Single Asset Vault as a "dynamic feature protocol" that keeps gaining functionality over time. Current voting levels don't guarantee activation, since XRPL amendments need 80% consensus.

XRPL 3.4.0 reached its first beta milestone on August 24, tagged 3.4.0-b1, after XRPLF merged PR #8102. That build did not add new transaction types, amendments, RPC methods, or ledger rules, so it's an early step, not a finished release or Mainnet activation.

XRPL Operations is also hosting an X Space on the Lending Protocol on September 11 at 1 p.m. ET. Scheduled speakers include XRPL Foundation CTO Angell Denis, RippleX executives Ayo Akinyele and Jazzi Cooper, and RippleX engineer Vito Tumas. The discussion is expected to cover why the protocol matters, what's new, and what it unlocks.

XRP Price Forecast: Could the CLARITY Act Move XRP Next Week?

There's a third thread worth watching, even if it won't hit today.

Senate Republicans circulated a new 630-page draft of the CLARITY Act this week, a bill that matters for XRP, Bitcoin, and Ethereum alike.

It's still a Republican-only proposal. Journalist Brendan Pedersen reported that Democrats who've shown interest remain cautious, with one Democratic aide calling the unresolved ethics dispute the "biggest stumbling block by far."

The draft also separates truly decentralized protocols from "non-decentralized finance trading protocols" and adjusts credit union rules under the GENIUS Act.

A key procedural vote, cloture on the motion to proceed, is scheduled for September 15 at 2:15 p.m. ET. That's a vote to allow debate, not a final passage vote.

XRP Price Analysis: What Does the Chart Show?

Based on the falling-channel pattern, XRP is currently trading around $1.34 and taking support from the 50% Fibonacci retracement level at approximately $1.344. This level is acting as an important decision zone for the next directional move. If XRP holds the 50% Fibonacci level and breaks above the falling channel around $1.42–$1.45, it could trigger a bullish move toward $1.55, followed by $1.70. On the other hand, if XRP breaks below the 50% Fibonacci level and fails to reclaim it, selling pressure could increase, potentially pushing price toward $1.30 and the 38.2% Fibonacci level near $1.26. Therefore, the break-and-hold of the 50% Fibonacci level, together with the falling-channel breakout, will be crucial in determining XRP’s next major direction.

XRP Price Prediction: What Comes Next for XRP?

Today stacks up two catalysts most traders don't usually see on the same clock: a major CPI print and an XRPL amendment activation.

They're unrelated events, but both feed into the same broader question. Will risk appetite hold up into the Fed's September 16 decision?

Add the CLARITY Act's September 15 procedural vote, and next week looks just as busy as today.
