June 27, 2026 — Binance, the world's leading cryptocurrency exchange, has published a new blog titled "Why Tokenized Securities? A Look at bStocks vs. Traditional Stocks," outlining how tokenized securities are opening a new path for investors to access equity exposure on-chain.
The blog takes a practical look at how bStocks work, how they compare to traditional stocks, and why the two models are not in competition but rather serve different investors with different needs.
bStocks are tokenized securities issued as BEP-20 tokens on BNB Smart Chain. Each bStock gives users 1:1 economic exposure to a selected U.S.-listed share, with the underlying stock held in a regulated custodian account. Unlike traditional brokerage-held shares, bStocks can be withdrawn to a compatible BNB Smart Chain wallet, traded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends, and used with supported on-chain applications. Dividends are automatically reinvested through a token rebasing mechanism. Shareholder voting rights are not currently supported.
Traditional stocks give investors beneficial ownership of a company, voting rights, and direct cash dividend payouts. They trade on deep, established markets during fixed market hours and sit inside brokerage accounts with no on-chain functionality.
bStocks are built for investors who want self-custody, round-the-clock market access, and blockchain-native utility. The blog concludes that both models have a clear place and that the future is one where they coexist for different users and use cases, rather than one replacing the other.
