DTCC Tokenization is now live. The DTCC Tokenization launch, announced October 28, 2026, brings tokenized versions of securities held at DTC to eligible clients.
The Block says 34 securities are available at launch. This crypto news today report sets that update beside DTCC's own press release.
DTC, a DTCC subsidiary, launched the DTCC Tokenization Service on October 28, 2026, minting tokenized representations of DTC-held securities that can be converted back and delivered to digital wallets.
The Block reports 34 securities at launch and 24/7 peer-to-peer transfers backed 1:1, but the press release states none of these three figures.
Twenty DTC participants have signed on, onboarding is rolling, and the service runs on the Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network.

It adds that the service enables 24/7 peer-to-peer transfers between DTC-registered wallets on the same blockchain.
According to DTCC's website, as the latest update puts it, the tokens are backed 1:1 by securities held at DTC.

Eligible users can convert between traditional and tokenized forms and have the tokens delivered to wallets of their choice.
DTCC says these digital twins keep the ownership rights, investor protections, and economic entitlements of the originals. DTC holds more than $114 trillion in assets under custody.
The press release points to a December 2025 SEC no-action letter. It covers Russell 1000 constituents and exchange-traded funds tracking major indices and U.S. Treasury-securities.
About seven months later, more than 30 firms completed limited-production trades.
The service-connects to the Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network, with more networks due in 2027. The release gives no count of securities, so the 34 figure rests on The Block.
Not every investor. DTCC says 20 DTC participants have signed agreements, including Citi, Fidelity Investments, J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
Further users will be onboarded on a rolling basis. The service is for eligible users, so retail access is not described. DTCC also says more than 150 firms helped shape it.
The press-release does not state the 34-securities, the 24/7 peer-to-peer transfers, or the 1:1 backing.
The Block attributes its description to DTCC's website, which was not part of this review.
The release does say the service is meant to let investors mobilize collateral within minutes. Neither source gives volumes, fees, or any effect on markets.
Three things will show how far the launch reaches: the full list of tokenized-securities, the first transfers between wallets, and the next networks promised for 2027.

DTCC Tokenization has moved from plan to live-service for a first group of clients. The headline numbers come from the update, and the press release leaves them open. Whether the launch widens access depends on onboarding and networks still to come.
