SpaceX stock closed at $152.71 on September 18, 2026. That is a 1.36% drop for the day. But something bigger is happening behind the scenes.
The SpaceX stock weight in the Nasdaq-100 Index is set to more than double. It jumps from about 1.28% to 2.82% starting September 21, 2026. This matters for anyone tracking SPCX stock price this week.
This piece breaks down the SpaceX stock price prediction, the key support and resistance zones, and what the upcoming share unlocks could mean for traders.
SpaceX (ticker SPCX) trades on Nasdaq with a market cap of nearly $2.1 trillion. The stock is down about 33% from its post-IPO peak.
Even so, the share price is only slightly above its IPO opening price of $150.
Metric | Value |
Close (Sept 18, 2026) | $152.71 |
Day Change | -1.36% ($2.10) |
Day's Range | $149.93 - $156.60 |
52-Week Range | $104.83 - $225.64 |

Morgan Stanley Target | $300 |

Effective September 21, 2026, SpaceX's weight in the Nasdaq-100 rises from roughly 1.28% to 2.82%. This change is based on closing valuations from the prior trading session.
A bigger index weight forces passive funds and ETFs that track the Nasdaq-100 to buy more SpaceX shares. This could add mechanical buying support around the rebalance date.
Some analysts think this shift may also help narrow what they call a valuation disconnect between the stock price and the company's underlying value.
On the 4-hour chart, SPCX stock trades near $152.84. It sits above support levels around $150 and $143.6.
The RSI near 57 suggests mild positive momentum, not an extreme reading in either direction.
Scenario | Price Zones |
Bullish path | Above $155-156, then $160, then $165-166 |
Extended bullish target | $179-180 (Fibonacci resistance) |
Bearish path | Below $150, toward $143-144 |
Deeper support | $133-134 |
If the stock holds the $150 to $151 zone and breaks above $155 to $156, traders may watch for a move toward $160 and then $165 to $166. A push past $166 could open the door to the $179-180 area.
On the flip side, a rejection near $155-156 followed by a drop under $150 could send SpaceX stock price back toward $143-144, with firmer support near $133-134.
None of this is a guaranteed outcome. It is simply what the chart shows right now.
Morgan Stanley reaffirmed its buy rating and a $300 price target on September 15, 2026. That implies nearly 100% upside from the current SpaceX share price.
At the current share count, a $300 target would value SpaceX above $4 trillion. That is almost double its present $2.1 trillion market cap.
This is a long-term bank estimate, not a short-term promise. The gap between this target and the current price shows how far apart Wall Street views and market pricing can be.
Share unlocks add new supply to the market, and SpaceX has several coming up.

Elon Musk's stake of about 6.4 billion shares, roughly half of SpaceX's equity, stays locked up until June 2027. That limits supply from the largest insider even as smaller tranches hit the market.
The Vanguard Communication Services ETF (VOX) raised its SpaceX stake by 85.2% in just two months.
VOX held 632,077 SPCX shares on June 30. That number grew to 1,170,398 by August 31, making SpaceX the fund's eighth-largest holding.
Vanguard has not said what percentage of VOX this stake now represents. Some estimates suggest it could eventually reach one-fifth of the fund once shares fully unlock.
Interestingly, SpaceX still has not cracked the top 200 holdings in the Vanguard Growth ETF or Total World Stock ETF. That shows its float is still working through the unlock process.
SpaceX pushed the Starship Flight 14 launch from September 22 to September 28, 2026, a six-day delay. No public reason has been given for the change.
The new launch window opens at 5:45 pm IST from Starbase in Texas and stays open for 75 minutes.
Separately, a Falcon 9 rocket launched 27 Starlink satellites from California, keeping the company's regular launch cadence going even as Starship slips.
SpaceX stock sits at a level where the next few sessions could matter. The Starship delay and the September 24 unlock are short-term headlines.
Meanwhile, the company's revenue growth and narrowing losses tell a steadier long-term story, according to recent reporting.
Traders watching the SpaceX stock price will likely keep an eye on the $150 support and $155 resistance zone as the next signal for where the stock heads.
