Ethereum price today is $2,564.81 on October 12, 2026, up 2.2% over 24 hours. Two on-chain stories are drawing attention. Wallets linked to the Ethereum Foundation sent 4,393 ETH to Kraken, and a whale reportedly swapped Bitcoin for Ether. Do these moves signal selling, buying, or routine portfolio activity?
ETH price is now near $2,564.81, with about $9 billion in 24-hour volume and a market capitalization near $312.75 billion. Two Foundation-associated wallets deposited about $11.13 million in ETH to Kraken. Separately, a whales reportedly sold 410.14 BTC and bought ETH. A wallet transfer alone does not confirm a completed sale.

According to on-chain analyst EmberCN, two Ethereum Foundation-associated wallets moved 4,393 coins, worth about $11.13 million, to Kraken around 08:50 UTC. Lookonchain reported the same deposit.
Both sources say the wallets received 59,751 coins from a Foundation wallet about 10 years ago. EmberCN says 49,751 ETH of that amount reached Kraken over the decade, at an average price near $658. Lookonchain noted that it traded near $0.9 when the wallets first received it.

Lookonchain reports that a mysterious whale sold 410.14 BTC, worth about $34.16 million, on Hyperliquid. The whale then bought 14,341 coins, worth about $36.14 million, on decentralized exchanges. Lookonchain published an Arkham entity record for the whale.
A second monitoring account gives different numbers. It says the BTC fetched about $34.13 million in USDC and bought 13,527 coins at roughly $2,523. It also says the BTC left HTX between March and June 2025 at an average price of $95,434.
The coin totals do not match, so readers should treat both figures as unverified. The trade may be a portfolio rotation, not a confirmed bet on price.

Both transactions are small next to total market activity. The Kraken deposit is about 0.12% of the $9 billion in daily volume.
The Ethereum news whale’s reported $36.14 million purchase is about 0.4% of it. Volume covers all trading, while these figures cover single on-chain moves. Neither one shows a net inflow or outflow for the whole market.

The whale quantity differs between reports: 14,341 tokens in one and 13,527 tokens in another.
There are three ways to read the data.
Possible selling pressure. If the deposited tokens are sold, it adds supply to the Crypto market.
Possible demand. The whale’s purchase may reflect buying interest.
Unclear motives. Either party could be rebalancing, managing costs, or funding other plans.
Traders can watch for confirmed sales on Kraken, ETH trading volume, Bitcoin performance, and later price action. A single wallet movement should not be treated as a signal on its own.
Ethereum News Today points in two directions. Foundation-linked wallets sent to a crypto exchange, while a whale reportedly moved from BTC into ETH. Neither move settles the question. Holders should wait for follow-up transfers, confirmed trades, and the market’s reaction before reaching a bullish or bearish view.
