This Ethereum news today covers seven stories. They include a SHIB whale transfer, BlackRock outflows, BitMine accumulation, the Lisk shutdown, Vitalik’s AI warning, a BlueMove-linked fund move and the Ethereum Foundation’s new public-sector resource. The table below lists the key figures.
Major Ethereum-Related Developments and Key Figures
| Development | Key figure | Significance |
| SHIB whale transfer | $4.94M | Large historical whale movement |
| BlackRock ETH outflows | $1.32B | Reported monthly ETH outflows |
| 6.065M ETH | Approximately 4.96% of ETH supply | |
| BitMine staked ETH | 5.227M ETH | Institutional staking activity |
| Lisk reward burn | 5.2M LSK | Remaining staking rewards |
| BlueMove-linked transfer | 115,000 USDC | Cross-chain fund movement |
| Ethereum public-sector initiative | November 3 | New institutional resource |
Figures come from the supplied reports and announcements. The SHIB figures are attributed to Ember Monitoring.
According to Ember Monitoring, a whale bought about 1.03 quadrillion SHIB in 2020 using just 37.8 ETH, worth around $13,700. That was reportedly 17.4% of the total supply. At the 2021 peak, the holding was worth about $9.1 billion.
Today, the address moved 1.07 trillion SHIB, worth roughly $4.94 million. It has reportedly sold 11.73 trillion SHIB for about $74.74 million, at an average of $0.0000064. Arkham Explorer data shows 91.6 trillion SHIB, valued near $418 million, still held.
Early whales draw attention because of their size. Still, a transfer alone does not prove a sale. The tokens may be heading to an exchange, or simply to another wallet.

Lookonchain reports that BlackRock saw 580,145 ETH, worth $1.32 billion, flow out over the past month. This is a reported outflow, not proof of permanent selling. Fund flows can reflect client activity, rebalancing or custody changes.

BitMine, led by Tom Lee, bought another 5,000 coins, worth $11.22 million. Its total reached about 6.065 million coins, or roughly 4.96% of supply. About 5.227 million coins are staked, with estimated annual staking income of $358 million.
The difference matters. Fund outflows follow investor demand, while a corporate treasury like BitMine chooses to hold and stake. Neither move alone sets the Ethereum price or the ETH price today.

Ethereum L2 chain Lisk Shuts Down on November 2, 2026. The Lisk Portal and Lisk Bridge went offline. About 5.2 million unused LSK rewards will be burned. Lisk token now targets business finance, with fiat and stablecoin accounts, payments, approvals and crypto portfolios. LSK stays on Ethereum as a loyalty token.
PeckShield reports that a BlueMove-linked address bridged 115,000 USDC from Ethereum to Hyperliquid and bought 188.25 XMR at $608.43. In July 2026, a BlueMove exploit drained about 710,670 SUI.

This is the most forward-looking story in today’s Ethereum news. Coinbase’s Head of Cryptography, Yehuda Lindell, said there is no consensus that elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) is likely to be broken. He added that no evidence supports that view.
Vitalik Buterin replied with a different worry. He asked whether undiscovered attacks on elliptic curve discrete logarithms, bilinear pairings and lattice cryptography might exist. He suggested AI could compress more than 50 years of math research into five years and find them sooner.
This matters because wallets, signatures and transactions all rely on this cryptography. Still, this is a possible future risk. Nothing reported says Ethereum’s cryptography has been broken. For readers who follow Vitalik Buterin ETH updates, it is a long-term security debate.

On November 3, 2026, the Ethereum Foundation launched a website for governments, international organizations and NGOs. It explains how Ethereum can support digital identity, public services and humanitarian aid.
Bhutan’s National Digital Identity (NDI) system is the main example. Ethereum records help verify that credentials are real, while personal data stays in users’ wallets. The Foundation also built a proof of concept for aid coordination. It combines decentralized identity with privacy-preserving payments.
This shows Ethereum reaching beyond trading and DeFi into public infrastructure.

2020: A whale reportedly buys about 1.03 quadrillion SHIB token with 37.8 tokens.
2021: The holding reaches a reported peak value of about $9.1 billion.
July 11, 2026: The BlueMove exploit takes about 710,670 SUI.
September 2026: Lisk burns 100 million LSK.
November 1, 2026: BitMine’s snapshot shows about 6.06 million tokens.
November 2, 2026: The Lisk Chain shuts down.
November 3, 2026: SHIB whale transfer, BlackRock outflow data, BitMine buying, Vitalik’s AI concerns, and the Ethereum Foundation website all land.
Today’s Ethereum news shows mixed institutional behavior, with BlackRock outflows alongside BitMine buying. Vitalik’s cryptography concern is a reminder that long-term security needs attention. Lisk’s pivot and the Foundation’s public-sector push show the Ethereum network evolving. The picture is balanced, not conclusive.
