This edition of Polygon news today covers the Coinme deal, the Toku payroll link-up, three other early customers and the record numbers behind the network.

Coinme Deal Closes and the Company Goes U.S.-Regulated

On October 14, Polygon Labs announced that it had completed its acquisition of Coinme. The company says its U.S. payments business now covers 48 states, using 37 state money transmitter licenses and 11 applicable exemptions.

A money transmitter licence is a state permission to move money for customers.

The business is also registered with FinCEN, a federal financial crimes agency, as a money services business.

The goal is to cover the whole journey of a payment: dollars coming in through banks, cards or cash deposits, value moving on-chain, and funds reaching people who can use them.

The company says this regulated access joins its accounts, wallets, cross-chain routing and settlement rails, so a payments team can build a full flow through one integration.

The deal was first announced in January alongside Sequence.

Toku Brings Stablecoin Payroll to Workers in 100+ Countries

Toku runs payroll and hiring in more than 100 countries, handling employment contracts, tax withholding, benefits and local filings.

It now uses wallet and payout tools from the company's Open Money Stack (OMS) to cover the last mile.

The integration builds on Toku's stablecoin payroll launch in January.

A stablecoin is a digital token designed to hold the value of a regular currency, usually the U.S. dollar. Here is what changes for workers:

  • They can receive pay in stablecoins and keep it in a wallet.

  • They can convert it to local currency inside the same payroll flow.

  • Employers keep tax and legal duties handled in each country.

Toku's CEO, Ken O'Friel, said firms holding stablecoin treasuries rarely struggle to move funds. Their real challenge is employing people legally where they live.

Tazapay, Mesh and Kira Join as First Customers

Three more firms are among the first to adopt OMS:

  • Tazapay: It serves more than 1,000 enterprises and fintechs across over 30 countries. It uses on- and off-ramp and wallet tools to shorten the path between stablecoins and local currency.

  • Mesh: Its network links more than 300 wallets, exchanges and financial services. OMS now adds another on-ramp inside that network.

  • Kira: It uses AI agents to open U.S. bank accounts and track payments, while humans sign off on every decision. Accounts open within 72 hours of receiving documents, and 9 of 10 payments clear review on the first try.

The Record Numbers Behind the Network

The company's blog reports that Polygon Chain has carried more than $3 trillion in stablecoin transfers since September 2020.

For anyone following Polygon news today, the yearly pace stands out.

2023

2026 so far

More than half of the lifetime total has moved since January 2025. The network also upgraded its speed this year:

  • June: capacity raised to up to 5,000 payments per second

  • July: the Ithaca upgrade added automatic recovery if a block producer stalls

  • Testing: more than 11 million verified payments per second through agent pay channels, settled in batches

  • September: the community completed a 100 million POL burn from collected fees

How OMS Ties It All Together

OMS lets a business connect a bank deposit to a stablecoin balance, move funds onchain and send a payout to the recipient.

Teams can use the full flow or only the parts they need. In September, its API and dashboard completed a SOC 2 Type 1 examination, a security review that companies often request from vendors. The October 14 post says OMS is live today.

Conclusion

This is a major day for Polygon news today: a regulated U.S. footprint, a payroll partner spanning 100+ countries and a network handling record volume. The next test is whether more businesses build on this setup, so keep checking the official sources for updates.
