SpaceX stock closed at $153.47 on Tuesday, up 3.73% on the day. The move came after Pivotal Research Group started coverage with a Buy rating and a $220 price target.
The rally pushed SPCX stock above a key resistance zone near $150 for the first time since early July. But a large share unlock landing this week could test how strong that breakout really is.
SPCX closed at $153.47, up $5.52 from the previous close of $147.95. The stock traded between $145.14 and $154.86 during the session, on volume of about 85.37 million shares.
Market cap stood near $2.023 trillion at the close. The 52-week range runs from $104.83 to $225.64.

Pivotal Research analyst Jeffrey Wlodarczak set a $220 target based on Starship reusability, Starlink growth, and SpaceX's AI compute business.
SpaceX posted Q2 2026 revenue of $7.81 billion. AI segment revenue jumped 247% year over year to $2.56 billion.
Wlodarczak said the call depends on SpaceX pulling off 20 to 50 flights per Starship vehicle with cheap refurbishment and fast turnaround. Without that, he says SPCX becomes "a different and much smaller company."
Other firms are even more bullish. Oppenheimer's Timothy Horan raised his target to $280 from $250, pointing to AI infrastructure gains. Bernstein holds a $248 target tied to Starlink and Starship economics. JPMorgan sees room toward $240.
The average Wall Street target now sits near $226.
Share unlocks remain the biggest swing factor for SPCX stock right now. Early investors and employees get more shares freed up to trade over the next few months.

The September 9 unlock alone adds roughly 319 million shares worth about $46.89 million at current prices. Circulating supply could grow by about 14% this month.
So far, sellers have not shown up in force. SpaceX stock climbed from around $105 to $147 even as the first two unlocks hit the market in August.
On the four-hour chart, SPCX is holding inside an ascending triangle pattern that started forming after the August 6 low.
The stock sits just above the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level at $150.98. RSI reads near 61, suggesting room left before overbought conditions kick in.
If SpaceX stock holds support at $147 to $151, the triangle pattern points to a possible move toward $165 to $166.
A clean break above $180 would open the door toward $199 to $200, with $225 as the longer-term ceiling matching the 52-week high.
On the downside, a close below $133 would weaken the recovery structure and put the $131 August low back in focus.
A Falcon Heavy rocket successfully launched NASA's $4 billion Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on August 30, a reminder that Falcon still carries real operational weight while Starship scales up.
President Trump's financial disclosure showed a stake between $15,001 and $50,000 in SpaceX shares purchased in June, adding political attention to the stock, though the White House says the trade was not personally directed.
Peers moved too. Rocket Lab gained 3% to $66.24, Intuitive Machines rose 5% to $15.61, and the Procure Space ETF added 1%.
Investor Ross Gerber added his own take, saying he now sees more upside in SpaceX stock than in Tesla. He also floated the idea that the two Musk-led companies could eventually merge, though nothing official has been proposed.
The SpaceX stock price prediction picture leans bullish short-term, with $165 to $166 as the next realistic test if $150 holds as support. The bigger question is whether hundreds of millions of newly unlocked shares change that picture in the weeks ahead.
