Silver Up 4% Today: Could India’s Imports Fuel XAGUSD Toward $75?

Silver Price Prediction

Silver price prediction is back in focus today because XAGUSD just delivered a strong breakout above a descending trendline, and it did so only after testing that trendline a second time and holding firm. A confirmed second-retest breakout tends to carry more conviction than a first attempt, since it shows sellers already had a chance to reject the move and failed. Layer in fresh import data out of India, one of the world's largest physical silver markets, and there is a decent amount to unpack in this silver rate today update. Here is the full picture.

Silver Price Today: Live Data and 24-Hour Change

Silver is trading around $67.03 right now, up a strong 4.74% over the past 24 hours, continuing to build on the recent trendline breakout. Market cap for the tracked silver instrument sits at $268.21 billion, with fully diluted valuation at $3.75 trillion. Total supply is listed at 56 billion XAG, with a self-reported circulating supply of 4 billion XAG and no fixed max supply.

Silver News Today: Indian Import Data Puts China and UK in Focus

There is a useful piece of context feeding into this silver price outlook right now, separate from the pure chart picture.Silver news today XAGUSD

According to a post from James Henry Anderson on X, Indian silver import data through July 2026 shows the country's import patterns tend to concentrate around specific trading partners when it actually imports in size, with China and the UK flagged as the main locations to watch going forward.

The accompanying charts show monthly import volumes over recent years alongside a breakdown of India's top trading partners for the latest month.

India remains one of the largest physical silver consumers globally, so shifts in its import behavior can offer a read on underlying physical demand that pure price charts do not capture on their own.

This kind of data does not move the price immediately the way a Fed decision or ETF flow might, but for anyone comparing silver vs gold demand trends or tracking XAGUSD technical analysis over a longer horizon, it is a genuinely relevant data point to have on file.

Quick Take

  • CMP: $67.0265 on the 1 hour OANDA chart

  • Trigger level: close above $68.32064 to confirm continuation of the breakout

  • Failure condition: failing to sustain above $65.22049, followed by a close below $64.01740

  • Data as of: September 17, 2026, 15:15 UTC+5:30

  • Risk note: this breakout already survived one retest, so a close back below $65.22049 followed by a break of $64.01740 would be a real reversal signal rather than a routine pullback

XAGUSD Technical Forecast: Reading the Trendline Breakout

Chart source: TradingView, XAG/USD, 1-hour timeframe, OANDA, September 17, 2026, 15:15 UTC+5:30.Silver Price Forecast today

Zooming into the 1-hour silver chart, the price had been sliding down a long descending trendline for weeks.

Sellers defended that line once already, but on the second retest, buyers pushed through with real strength, confirming this as a genuine breakout rather than a brief wick above resistance.

If price continues building on this and closes above $68.32064. that would confirm the breakout is holding, roughly 1.93% above the current price.

Clearing that opens the path toward $71.16544. about 6.18% higher than CMP, and in a stronger continuation, $75.02535 comes into view next, sitting around 11.94% above where XAGUSD trades today.

On the other side, if price fails to sustain above $65.22049, roughly 2.69% under current price, and then breaks and closes below $64.01740, about 4.49% below CMP, that would call the breakout into serious question. In that scenario, the next support to watch drops to $62.33447, roughly 7.00% below current levels.

Bull, Base, and Bear Scenarios for Silver

If Price holds its momentum and closes above $68.32064, that opens a clear path toward $71.16544 and, with continued strength, $75.02535. A steady flow of physical demand data, like the Indian import figures, could help sustain broader interest in silver even as the technical breakout does its own work.

A more measured outcome has silver consolidating somewhere between $65.22049 and $68.32064 for a stretch, letting the market digest this breakout before committing to the next leg higher.

Things turn bearish only if silver fails to hold $65.22049 and then closes below $64.01740, which would undo the bullish structure this breakout created. In that case, the price would likely work toward $62.33447 given how much ground would need to be given back.

Risks to This Silver Price Prediction

No XAGUSD price target is guaranteed, and a few things could easily change this picture.

Precious metals are heavily influenced by macro conditions, particularly Federal Reserve policy, dollar strength, and Treasury yields, all of which can override a clean technical breakout within a single session.

The Indian import data is a genuinely useful demand indicator, but it reflects trade flows through July 2026 and does not capture real-time sentiment, so treating it as a direct price catalyst would be overstating its immediate impact.

Glossary

Descending trendline: a downward-sloping line connecting a series of lower highs, often acting as resistance until price closes above it.

Trendline breakout: a move where price closes beyond a previously respected trendline, often signaling a shift in the underlying trend.

Sustain level: a price zone that needs to hold as support for a bullish structure to remain intact; losing it raises the odds of a deeper pullback.

FDV: Fully Diluted Valuation, the theoretical market cap if the entire supply were accounted for and in circulation.
