SpaceX Spectrum Deal Shakes AT&T and Verizon: What It Means for SPCX

SpaceX stock news moved fast this week after the company said it will buy a nationwide block of low-band spectrum. The deal is worth about $8 billion in cash.

The announcement hit big phone carriers hard. AT&T and Verizon both dropped sharply before bouncing back.

SPCX closed at $160.57, down 4.19%. In after-hours trading, it rebounded to $165.48.

What Did SpaceX Announce About the 800 MHz Spectrum?

On October 8, the company said it agreed to buy a spectrum portfolio from investment firm Grain Management. The licenses cover the whole US and sit in the 800 MHz low-band range.

The deal includes up to 14 MHz of paired spectrum. The price is about $8 billion in cash.

Elon Musk called it the last critical piece of the spectrum puzzle needed for complete phone coverage in America. The goal is to turn Starlink Mobile into a major US carrier.SPACEX ANNOUNCED AN AGREEMENT TO AQQUIRE A NATIONAWIDE SPECTRUM

Why Does 800 MHz Spectrum Matter for Starlink Mobile?

Low-band signals travel far. They also pass through walls better than higher bands.

That helps fix a known weak spot. Satellite signals work well on highways and in remote areas, but they get weaker indoors.

Many phones already support this band. So Starlink could mix satellites with small cells, rooftop gear, or regular towers.

Until now, the company mostly worked with T-Mobile to offer basic coverage in remote places. More spectrum could let it sell service straight to users over time.

The FCC also approved up to 15,000 next-generation satellites for direct-to-cell service. That adds more regulatory support.

Why Did AT&T and Verizon Stock Drop After the SPCX News?

Investors worry that a new carrier with its own satellites and spectrum could take customers from older players.

Charts shared by The Kobeissi Letter show a steep slide in both stocks. Reports say some carriers fell as much as 8%.

Then both stocks recovered. By the close, they were up on the day.

Is SPCX Stock Going Up or Down? Key Chart Levels

On the 4-hour chart, SPCX trades inside a rising channel. That points to a bullish trend overall.

Right now, though, it is in a short pullback. Price met resistance near $172 to $176.

Some traders see warning signs. A gravestone doji formed on Tuesday, with a long upper wick and a close near the open. A doji followed on Wednesday. Then the stock fell more than 4%.

One view says the price sits near a double top around the June 22 high, close to the channel line. That setup can mark a reversal zone. It is not a sure signal.

RSI is near 54. That reads as neutral to slightly positive.

SPCX Stock Forecast: What Could Happen Next?

Any SpaceX stock forecast starts with the $159 area. If price holds there and bounces, a retest of $165.75 is possible. After that, traders may look at $172 to $176.

A break below $159 changes the picture. The pullback could stretch toward $153 and then $149.65.

The after-hours price of $165.48 sits just under the $165.75 level. A close above it would be the first sign buyers are back.

The outlook looks cautiously bullish while price stays inside the channel. Confirmation is still needed.

The 1-year analyst target estimate is $224.56. That is about 40% above the last close. Targets are only estimates, and they often change.

What Could Move SPCX Next?

A few things are worth watching:

  • Details on how the spectrum will be used with Starlink satellites

  • Reaction from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile

  • Regulatory steps tied to the 15,000 satellite approval

  • Earnings, estimated for November 3, 2026

The stock has traded between $104.83 and $225.64 over the past year. That is a wide range. Sharp moves in both directions are normal here.
