Hyperliquid’s HIP-4 Upgrade Pushed HYPE 20%, Is Next Target $50?

Hyperliquid is moving beyond perpetual futures trading as it prepares to launch prediction markets through its HIP-4 network upgrade. The development marks a major expansion for the fast-growing on-chain derivatives platform, opening the door to new types of decentralized trading activity.

With HIP-4, traders will be able to place on-chain bets on future events, such as  crypto price movements, macro event outcomes, and other market scenarios. This adds a new utility layer to the network’s ecosystem beyond regular derivatives. 

What the Hyperliquid HIP-4 Upgrade Brings to Prediction Markets

The HIP-4 upgrade presents “outcome trading,” a system where third-party developers are allowed to build prediction markets directly on the Hyperliquid L1 blockchain.

Different from leveraged perpetuals, these marketplaces use fully collateralized contracts. This means no leverage, no liquidations, and clearly defined outcomes. Contracts settle within fixed periods of time, making them easy and less risky for users. 

With this new launch, the platform will support:

• Permissionless prediction markets for yes/no event outcomes, similar to Polymarket – largest decentralized prediction market in the crypto world. 

• Options-style contracts with fixed expiry dates and non-linear payouts, mean profits or losses don’t change with movement in actual price. 

The design makes the protocol a perfect combination of safer alternatives to leveraged trade with the advanced trading strategies. 

How This Matter for $HYPE Price

The announcement immediately boosted market confidence. Following the news, the network’s native token $HYPE price jumped nearly 20% to $37.75 at the time of writing. Market cap stands at $11.38 billion (+21.23) while daily trading volume also surged by 46% to $1 billion.

With strong on-chain revenue, high throughput, and growing builder activity, the platform is positioning itself as a serious player in event-based trading. According to market price specialists, if HIP-4 adoption grows, it could push the Hyperliquid coin to $50+ in a nearing time, further boosting its demand in months ahead. 

For now, with the price jump following the upgrade news today one thing is clear that the enthusiasm in the community is already high and positive. 

Looking Ahead: Testnet Live, Mainnet Coming Soon

The Hyperliquid network upgrade went live on testnet around February 2, 2026. A mainnet launch is expected after testing. Like HIP-3, builders can deploy markets by staking 500,000 HYPE, keeping the ecosystem permissionless.

This mirrors the success of HIP-3 (liquidity and risk sharing framework), which helped drive billions in trading volume across Hyperliquid markets. 

Prediction Markets: A Growing Sector in Crypto Era

Prediction markets have been gaining popularity across the crypto industry, as they allow decentralized, more transparent infrastructure, forecasting without relying on any intermediaries. 

In December 2025, Coinbase launched its own version of the betting market, and now Hyperliquid follows the trail. These show how market giants are increasingly taking part in this industry taking its growth potential as base.

But at the same time, their large amount of exploitation could drive the users into an unethical mentality. Betting on emotionally connected scenarios could cause the loss of social morals.
