SpaceX Stock is holding steady this week as traders watch two things closely.
One is a fresh share unlock date. The other is Elon Musk's growing role in where SPCX goes next.
Shares closed Monday at $151.85, down a small $0.56. In overnight trading, the stock ticked back up to $152.90. That keeps the price in a tight range it has held for days.
The company's market cap still sits above $2 trillion. That is a huge number for a stock that only started trading in June.

Volume came in well below the average, which suggests today's move was fairly quiet compared to a typical trading day.
SPCX stock made a high near $158 on Monday but could not close above that level. It settled at $151.85, just $0.56 lower than the day before.
The 52-week range tells the bigger story. The stock has a low of $104.83 and a high of $225.64. So price has swung a lot in just a few months.
Trading volume was close to 2 million shares. That shows steady interest, not panic.
SpaceX shares dropped over 54% from their June IPO peak. Heavy spending worried some investors. A big lock-up expiration added more selling pressure too.
Since hitting that low of $104.83 in August, the stock has bounced back 44%. Strong demand from big funds helped it stabilize. Progress on Starlink and Starship also gave buyers more confidence.
This is the part many traders are watching most closely right now.
Date | What Unlocks |
Sept 24, 2026 | Major lock-up expiration begins |
Oct 9, 2026 | Up to 328.4 million new shares |
Oct 24, 2026 | Up to 328.4 million more shares |
After Q3 earnings | Up to 1.3 billion shares |
Dec 8, 2026 | Roughly 800 million shares |
June 12, 2027 | Elon Musk's stake becomes sellable |
Most shares, other than Musk's, unlock by the end of this year. A smaller batch stays locked until next summer.
Musk owns roughly 48.4% of the company, based on the latest filings. He has said he does not plan to sell his stake once it unlocks.
More unlocked shares usually means more shares can hit the market. That can add short-term pressure, even when the company itself is doing fine.
SpaceX's weighting in the Nasdaq-100 more than doubled in today's quarterly rebalance. It jumped from 1.28% to 2.82%, based on Friday's closing prices.
The company already ranks as the index's seventh-biggest name by market value. Its weighting had lagged behind that rank simply because fewer shares were trading freely after the IPO.
This kind of jump forces index funds to buy more shares, whether they want to or not. Analysts think the rebalance could drive between $15.5 billion and $22 billion in passive buying across Nasdaq-linked funds.
The Vanguard Communication Services ETF (VOX) raised its SpaceX stake by 85.2% in just two months, growing its position from 632,077 shares in June to 1,170,398 shares by the end of August. SpaceX is now VOX's eighth-largest holding.
Even so, SpaceX still has not cracked the top 200 holdings in the Vanguard Growth ETF or the Vanguard Total World Stock ETF. That shows its float is still working through the unlock process, with more room to grow inside major index funds.
Looking at the 4-hour chart, the price sits at $151.83, just above the 0.382 Fibonacci level at $150.98.
The three moving averages are stacked in a bullish order. The short EMA sits near $150.11, the middle EMA near $145.62, and the longer EMA near $144.86.
Price has climbed from the $133.34 area (the 0.236 Fib level) with higher lows along the way. That points to buyers defending the $150 to $151 zone for now.
Level | Price | Meaning |
0.786 Fib | $199.79 | Upper resistance zone |
0.618 Fib | $179.49 | Longer-term bullish target |
0.50 Fib | $165.24 | Next major target if breakout holds |
0.382 Fib | $150.98 | Current support, key line in the sand |
0.236 Fib | $133.34 | Downside risk if support breaks |
52-week low | $104.83 | Deep support floor |
If price holds above $150.98 and clears resistance near $153 to $155, the next target is $165.24. A move past that could open the door to $179.49.
If the price closes below $150.98 on the 4-hour chart, that would weaken the bullish setup. The EMA zone near $144.86 to $145.62 becomes the next support to watch. Losing that area could expose the $133.34 level.
This is a technical scenario built off current chart patterns. It is not a guaranteed price prediction.
SpaceX already launched a Starlink mission on a Falcon 9 out of California over the weekend.
A USSF-385 mission is set for Friday, September 26, launching on a Falcon 9 from California. The launch window runs from 7:56 to 10:56 a.m. ET.
Starship Flight 14 was pushed back from September 22 to September 28. SpaceX has not given a public reason for the six-day delay. The new window opens at 5:45 pm IST from Starbase in Texas and stays open for 75 minutes.
SpaceX's next earnings report is expected around November 3, 2026. That report will land right in the middle of the busiest stretch of share unlocks.
SPCX is at a real decision point. Support near $150.98 has held for three straight weekly closes, which some traders read as a good sign.
But a wall of share unlocks is coming between now and December. That could bring extra supply into the market even if the company keeps performing well.
Watch the $150.98 support level and the $153 to $155 resistance zone closely over the next few weeks.
