Did Chainlink just run out of steam?
Four days ago, a record ETF inflow had buyers feeling bold. Now the Chainlink price prediction picture is shakier, with LINK at $12.91 and sliding.
And the hourly chart adds to the worry. Price trades under all four major moving averages.
The LINK price today reads $12.91, down 2.97% in 24 hours, per CoinMarketCap live data. Data time: Oct 13, 2026, 09:30 UTC.
The 24-hour range ran from $12.32 to $13.42. Wide swing, then a slow bleed.
7 days sting more, with LINK down 6.91%. But the 30-day gain still stands at 12.17%, per CoinGlass.
Volume jumped 56.54% to $387.99M, while market cap sits at $9.66B. Rising volume during a drop means sellers brought real size. And a loud dip usually heals slower than a quiet one.
Circulating supply is 748.09M LINK out of a 1B maximum, and the LINK staking update covers where part of the rest sits.
Price remains 75.56% under the $52.88 peak from May 10, 2021. Long road back.
Longs got flushed. Liquidations hit $2.25M in 24 hours. Long positions took $2.07M of it. Buyers leaned the wrong way. A rejection near $13.42 started the slide.
Chainlink ETF inflows totaled $1.18M on Oct 12, 2026, per SoSoValue ETF data. Bitwise's CLNK took all of it, while Grayscale's GLNK saw $0.
Compare that with $9.48M on Oct 9. Cooler, sure. But still green.
Cumulative net inflow stands at $179.61M, and net assets reached $230.10M, about 2.36% of LINK's market cap. Thirty-day inflow sits at $27.85M. Steady money.
Bitcoin spot ETFs lost $65.40M on Oct 12, and Ethereum funds lost $85.40M. LINK funds still added $1.18M.
Small money, yes. And it ranks seventh among US crypto spot ETFs by net assets.
Bitcoin trades at $83,549.14, up 0.24%, while Ethereum sits at $2,509.61, down 1.58%, per CoinMarketCap on Oct 13, 2026, 09:30 UTC.
$LINK is lagging both. That points to coin-specific selling rather than a market-wide flush.
Futures volume reached $572.33M against $91.09M in spot trading. Open interest, the total value of open futures contracts, is $611.58M, per CoinGlass derivatives data.
The long/short ratio compares accounts betting up with accounts betting down. Binance reads 1.5641, and OKX shows 2.45. That's a crowd leaning one way. And crowds stumble together.
Etherscan lists 915,337 holders, and the LINK wallet count trend tracked how that base has grown.
Whales, meaning very large wallets, hold 90.87% of market cap while making up just 0.48% of holders, per Etherscan holder data. The top 100 wallets control 61.54%. Who sells first if support cracks?

Chainlink technical analysis starts with the 1-hour Binance chart, where price moves inside a rising channel, meaning two parallel lines slanting upward. Buyers defended the lower line near the $12.091 low and again this morning.
RSI reads 47.54. Below 50 means sellers hold a slight edge, though it's nowhere near oversold.
EMA reads $12.981 (20 EMA), $13.041 (50 EMA), $13.092 (100 EMA), and $13.259 (200 EMA). Price trades at $12.941, beneath all four.
Call it bearish. Actually, cautiously bearish fits better, since RSI hasn't broken down.
$LINK support and resistance starts below price with $12.625, about 2.4% lower. Next comes $12.372 at the channel base, then $11.906, roughly 8.4% under.
Lose $12.372 and sellers get room.
Resistance begins at the 200 EMA, $13.259, then the supply zone near $13.506. Above that sit $14.027 and $14.652.
A $13.815 high caps the middle ground.
Reclaiming $13.259 and $13.506 on rising volume could open the $LINK price target at $14.027 within seven days. Fresh buying, like the ETF inflows breakout covered earlier, would help.
Trading below $12.372 cancels the idea.
A chop between $12.372 and $13.259 stays the likeliest path for three to five days if volume cools.
Trading below $12.372 could expose $11.906 within a week. A reclaim of $13.259 would cancel that.

Dan Doney, CTO of DTCC, said assets can now move as collateral across any jurisdiction and custodian at any hour, per Chainlink's X post from about 20 hours before Oct 13, 2026, 09:30 UTC.
Big claim. Big name.

Link: NYC is set for Oct 29, 2026, per Chainlink's event post from about 17 hours before the same timestamp. Andrew McCormick plans a fireside chat on AI and blockchain there. Two weeks leaves plenty of time for early positioning.
Progress on CCIP, Chainlink's cross-chain messaging protocol, matters for adoption, per the CCIP vault adapters report.
Oracle wins, like the Open USD oracle news could lift sentiment. But rallies still need volume behind them.
Bulls need $14.652 before Oct 31, about 13.2% higher. Under this scenario, $13.506 has to fall first.
A range between $12.372 and $13.506 could hold through most of the month, and the October 2026 price prediction covers the wider view.
A break under $12.372 could drag LINK toward $11.906, about 8.4% lower, before Link:NYC arrives.
Speculative flows, tracked in meme coin market news, can pull money away from large altcoins.
Sector rotation, including the trend in AI crypto news, can shift attention fast. And one heavy whale can reset the chart.
This Chainlink price prediction leans cautiously bearish while the price trades under $13.259. Holding $12.372 keeps the channel alive.
But a reclaim above $13.506 flips the script, and the price prediction hub tracks what follows. Timing matters here.
